Since May 2001, Mortenson has been managing the transformation of the former Stapleton International Airport in the world-class Stapleton district.  Over $300 million in construction has been performed revitalizing thousands of acres into Denver’s largest growing community.

The 4,500 acre site is being transformed into a unique urban development consisting of homes, offices, shops and parks. Stapleton is a network of urban villages, employment centers and significant open spaces.

The project grew to the point that geographic teams responsible for 200-acre quadrants had to be formed. All area teams share accounting, survey, estimating and administration resources.  When complete, Stapleton’s 4,500 acres will set a new standard for the rebirth of urban America: a new generation of neighborhoods where 30,000 residents and 35,000 workers can call home.
